Strategically located in the snow-bound Monashee Mountains south of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Sol Mountain’s modern backcountry lodge is family owned and operated by Aaron and Sabine Cooperman.

Not to be called a cabin or hut!  Our three-story lodge was designed by backcountry skiers for backcountry skiers. Sol Mountain has comfortable private bedrooms, indoor bathrooms and hot showers, a toasty drying room, a wood-stove heated sauna, yoga and stretching studio, a full-service kitchen and bar, and high quality chef-made cuisine.

Easy off the grid backcounty living so you can focus on what is important – the skiing.

Wine and Dine

Welcome back Bernie as our chef for the coming season.  He is passionate about food (and snowboarding).

Bernie creates meals that highlight the wide variety of food and wine grown locally here in British Columbia. Mornings begin with energy-intense breakfasts and guests head out with lunches packed. Ski days conclude with appetizers served in the great room of the Sol Mountain main lodge and are followed by hearty three-course dinners. Meals include fresh, inspired courses like warmed beet and pear salad with roasted walnuts and goat's cheese with a lemon honey vinaigrette followed by seared and slow roasted duck breast on roasted root vegetables, butternut squash puree, and fig-cranberry chutney. And for desert a frozen chocolate-chilli parfait with warm chocolate crumble and raspberry coulis.

We accomodate any special dietary requirements - just be sure to let us know in advance!

Families and Kids

Though remote and far from any town, Sol Mountain's backcountry lodge is an ideal place for a family to enjoy a mountain holiday together. Sol Mountain has both the facilities and terrain for families. As a bonus, cost for children under 12 is heli only. Kids of all ages are welcome where helicopter and lodge space are available, and easily accommodated in our fully serviced and catered lodge. For those who do not hike or ski far there is easy access to gentle slopes surrounding the lodge, or simply relaxing in our comfortable lodge and enjoying the sauna. We have a wide
selection of kids’ toys, and arts and crafts, as well as baby gear (like cribs and backpack carriers). Six of the bedrooms in the lodge can sleep a family of four as they are outfitted with one double and two single beds.

Rejuvenate in the hot air of our Finnish-style wood-fired cedar planked sauna, which sits just a short walk from the main lodge.

To perfect our amenities, we designed our backcountry ski touring lodge after visiting a half-dozen remote lodges. The self-sufficient lodge at Sol Mountain is a roomy three-story timbered alpine villa set at the edge of picturesque alpine meadow. With 9 guest rooms the lodge sleeps 18 guests plus staff.
